Dongfeng Xiaokang will build factory in Algeria

China automobile manufacturer Celis is a subsidiary of state-owned Dongfeng Motor Group, and Dongfeng Xiaokang is a smart car micro-car brand under Celis Automobile (Hubei) Co., Ltd. The company is building a car and bus assembly plant in Algeria with an annual production capacity of approximately 60,000 vehicles.

Celis said in a statement that it will first invest approximately 8.9 billion Algeria dinars (US$67 million) in the project in the northeastern city of Batna.

The company said the factory will have three production lines, the first of which will be put into operation in August. The company added that when the project is fully operational within 15 months, it can assemble nearly 60,000 cars and buses every year.
