According to a report by the kun.uz website on March 9, data from the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan showed that from January to February 2026, the country imported 9698 electric vehicles with a total value of US$158.6 million; in the same period in 2025, it imported 1556 vehicles with a value of US$18 million. In terms of electric vehicle imports, the year-on-year increase of about five times, highlighting the rapid rise in demand for clean transportation in the country's market.

During the same period, imports of gasoline vehicles increased slightly, with a total of 2988 vehicles imported, valued at US$55.95 million; in the same period in 2025, it was 2746 vehicles, valued at US$55.88 million. The number increased slightly but the total import volume was basically the same.
The import performance of hybrid vehicles was outstanding. In the first two months of 2026, 1249 vehicles were imported, valued at US$41.2 million. In the same period of 2025, only 70 vehicles, valued at US$2.1 million, achieving an order-of-magnitude growth.
Data shows that Uzbekistan will produce 257,800 passenger cars in 2025. According to the "Uzbekistan-2030" national development strategy, the country plans to continue to expand automobile production capacity. The passenger car production target will be 550,000 in 2027, 700,000 in 2028, and 800,000 in 2029. The long-term goal is an annual output of 1 million vehicles.
