On April 15, a China-Laos cross-border train loaded with "Chongqing-made" new energy vehicles departed from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Station and exited through Mohan Port. The entire railway went directly to Vientiane, Laos, with a transportation time of only 5 days. This is the epitome of the normalization of the new Western Land-Sea Corridor serving "Chongqing vehicles going to sea".

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. As the most iconic infrastructure project for interconnection between the two sides, the China-Laos Railway has delivered a solid report card: cumulative traffic volume continues to rise, the scale of cross-border cargo transportation continues to expand, and exports of new energy vehicles, photovoltaic products, lithium batteries, etc. The "three new things" have achieved rapid growth-this "steel silk road" has become one of the important achievements of deepening cooperation between China and ASEAN.
In order to ensure the efficient operation of special trains for new energy vehicles, Chongqing Railway Logistics Center, in conjunction with Xinglongchang Station, customized special loading plans based on the high safety requirements for battery transportation of new energy vehicles and large vehicle size, opened up green channels, and implemented the "three priorities" policy of "priority transportation, priority loading and priority transportation". At the same time, a "production, transportation, and customs" coordination mechanism has been established with customs and the Land-Sea New Corridor Operation Company. Empty containers will be entered into the factory in advance and heavy containers will be loaded and shipped immediately, achieving seamless connection from production line to train shipment.
"In the past, automobile companies exported to Southeast Asia through river-sea combined transport, which took 20-30 days to complete the journey; now they go directly to Vientiane via the China-Laos Railway in 5 days, and then they are distributed to neighboring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia via roads, effectively reducing corporate logistics costs." Lu Ling, an economist at Tuanjie Village Sales Department of Chongqing Railway Logistics Center, calculated a time-limit account.
After the new energy vehicle train arrives in Vientiane, it can quickly radiate to the entire Indochina Peninsula through roads. This not only provides a stable channel for China's new energy vehicles to enter ASEAN, but also helps many ASEAN countries achieve the goal of low-carbon transportation transformation. Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries have introduced policies to promote electric vehicles, and the China-Laos railway is becoming an "accelerator" for regional green travel
In the first two months of this year, Chongqing's automobile exports were 8.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 89.3%. In the future, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor will launch customized plans such as full-vehicle trains and parts express lines for more automobile companies, continue to optimize train routes, expand the scale of operation, and help "Chongqing-made" new energy vehicles efficiently reach ASEAN countries.
