[Baku News] According to the Azerbaijan News Agency Report citing data from the country's National Customs Committee, Azerbaijan imported a total of approximately 123,319 vehicles of various types in 2025, with an import value of US$2.3865 billion. Compared with the same period in 2024, the import volume increased by 34.3%, and the import value increased by 29.4%, indicating that the market is in a significant expansion cycle, but the overall unit car price has not increased significantly simultaneously.

In terms of vehicle segments, medium and large passenger vehicles for public travel and commuting are growing faster. Official statistics show that in 2025, Azerbaijan's imports of motor vehicles used to transport 10 or more people will increase 2.2 times year-on-year to 877 vehicles, with an amount of approximately US$102.186 million. The passenger car sector, which accounts for a larger proportion, also strengthened: 113.84 million passenger cars and other motor vehicles, which mainly carry passengers, were imported throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%. The corresponding amount was approximately US$2.142023 billion, covering almost all imported car expenditures.

In terms of power structure, Azerbaijan's "new energy transition" route is more towards hybrid. Data shows that 56,794 imported vehicles in 2025 will be hybrid models, with an amount of approximately US$1.067959 billion; the scale of pure electric vehicles is still relatively limited, at 2,028 vehicles, with an amount of approximately US$62.486 million. In terms of volume, hybrid cars are close to half of the total imports of the year, while pure electricity is still in the stage of "growth but no explosion".

[Brief Comment] For China's automobile exporting companies, hybrid cars have become the mainstream form of imported power, indicating that the trade-off between local consumers and the policy environment on "battery life anxiety, convenience of energy replenishment, and cost of use" still tends to be a compromise solution. If China brands can focus on HEV/PHEV in this market, cooperate with reliable after-sales and parts supply, and pay attention to the opportunity window for passenger vehicles with more than 10 seats, it may be easier to continue to gain growth in 2026.
