[Moscow News] According to the latest monitoring by Russian automobile analysis agency AUTOSTAT, the average price of used passenger cars in Russia in February 2026 reached 1.423 million rubles. This indicator has once again reached the 1.4 million rubles mark for the first time in the past six months.

AUTOSTAT recalled that the average price of used cars in Russia has remained above 1.4 million rubles for many years, but it has fallen below this level since September last year. Since then, it has been hovering in the range of 1.358 million-1.396 million rubles until January 2026. Not back above 1.4 million rubles. The recovery in February is seen as a "phased turning point".

From a year-on-year and month-on-month perspective, the average price in February was still lower than the same period last year: it was 3.7% lower than the 1.478 million rubles in February 2025; but compared with the 1.391 million rubles in January this year, it increased by 2.3% month-on-month, indicating that sellers 'prices are tentatively rising.

It should be noted that AUTOSTAT emphasizes that this average price comes from monitoring the listing/on-sale quotations in the used car market (excluding transaction volume and real transaction price), so it more reflects "seller expectations" and "market quotation level" rather than the final transaction level.

[Brief Comment] The price of used cars in Russia has returned to above 1.4 million rubles, which means that the profit expectations of local car dealers are improving, but this does not necessarily mean that the transaction side is strengthening simultaneously. At present, the Russian market is extremely sensitive to prices, and policy expenses and exchange rate fluctuations will amplify terminal fluctuations. It is suggested that export enterprises should take this kind of "quotation average" as the reference line for product selection and pricing, rather than directly as the transactable price; In terms of negotiation and stocking, it is more necessary to combine the supply and demand of specific models, the age of vehicles and the latest caliber of Russian taxes and fees (especially related to power/back charges) to leave enough room for price swing.
